Out-door Carol Services

Folk at St. Nicholas’ Church at Searby cum Owmby were unable to enjoy singing at our usual Carol Service in the church due to COVID restrictions. So we moved into the churchyard and around 35 people enjoyed singing favourite carols on a sunny but chilly Sunday afternoon on 20th December – everyone socially distancing of course.

Later in the day a similar service was held at Caistor without around 70 people spread around the large churchyard – by then the sunlight had dimmed and we relied upon our torches to see our service sheets.

We were grateful to Christine Liddle and Peter Twidell who provided musical accompaniment on the keyboard and Peter Everett, Christine Brewster and Peter & Gwen Thompson who read Bible passages.

Swallow Church had held a similar service on the church green the day before, led by Richard Alderson.

Attached is a photo of the Vicar, Canon Ian Robinson and the Curate, The Revd Catherine Wylie leading the service at Searby – with some familiar figures – and Chris Liddle in the distance providing music on the keyboard.
